Tim Burton was born on August 25th 1958. He is an aclaimed film director, producer and writer. His most famous feature length films include Alice in Wonderland, Edward Scissorhand, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Batman Returns.
From a young age Tim Burton would make short films in his back yard using techniques such as stop motion. After studying at Burbank high school where he wasn’t a particularly good student, he went on to study Character Animation at the Calafornia Institute of the Arts.
After graduating, he was an apprentice at Disney where he made the short film Frenkenweenie, a 29 minute long film about a boy and his dog. It didn’t reach commercial release because it was said to be ‘too scary’.
Tim Burton is now working on a full feature length film, based on his short film Frankenweenie. It is due to be release in 2012.
